BACCARAT
GAME INFO
Baccarat is a simple card game commonly played in casinos, involving two hands: the “dealer” and the “player” (which does not necessarily refer to human players, but to two betting positions). The main objective is to predict which of the two hands will have a total closer to 9. Six or eight decks of cards are used, and the cards from 2 to 9 are worth their face value, while the face cards (J, Q, K) and the 10 have a value of 0, and the Ace is worth 1.
In each round, the dealer deals two cards to the player's hand and two to the dealer's hand. Depending on the sum of the cards, a fixed rule can be applied to decide whether a third card is dealt, but this is handled automatically according to the established rules: if the total of a hand is 8 or 9, it is considered a “natural hand” and no more is dealt. If the player has 6 or 7, he generally does not receive a third card, but the dealer might depending on his total.
Players can bet on three options: that the player's hand will win, that the dealer's hand will win, or that they will end in a tie. Winning bets are paid out based on what is wagered, with a slight commission (usually 5%) for banker bets, due to their mathematical advantage. The hand closest to 9 wins. In case of a tie, some variants of the game pay 8:1.
