GAME INSTRUCTIONS
Who is it for?
This game is designed for elementary school students (from age 8 and up), middle and high school students, and adults. Thanks to its 20 progressively challenging levels and accessible semantic groups that are easy to distinguish, the recommended minimum age is lower, allowing younger elementary students to begin practicing word categorization. It is a highly educational resource for language teachers who want to gamify vocabulary learning in the classroom, as well as for adults who want to exercise mental agility and cognitive reserve.Number of players
Single player (local mode; adaptable for group classroom activities projected on a board or screen). What is the game about?
The game consists of organizing a shuffled board of 16 words into 4 thematic groups based on their meaning relationships across 20 interactive levels. The player must select 4 semantically connected words and click “Submit” to check whether the association is correct, repeating the process until the board is cleared. What skills are developed?
- Semantic and lexical reasoning: Identification of conceptual fields and basic meaning relationships in English through very accessible categories.
- Cognitive flexibility: Ability to test different combinations and reorganize thinking if a word seems to fit into more than one group.
- Selective attention: Visual scanning and focus on specific terms within a word grid while ignoring distracting elements.
- Working memory: Active retention of previously tested groups and connection hypotheses while solving each level.
How to get the most out of it
Because of its progressive 20-level structure, players can create a consistency challenge by completing a fixed number of levels each day and writing down newly discovered words. In the classroom, teachers can ask students to choose one of the solved categories and add three more words that follow the same semantic rule.Video
